What is CrossFit?
CrossFit Training and YOU
Not a fitness enthusiast or, been awhile since you have exercised? Perhaps you are recovering from an injury or are not interested in competition. Maybe… you just want to be healthy.
For individuals in these categories, the same emphasis on developing capacity in a wide range of physical skills applies. To quote from a seminal paper in the CrossFit Journal:
CrossFit Works for Everyone
Whether you are starting as an experienced athlete or someone for whom getting under the desk to reboot the computer is a strenuous task, you can walk into our gym and press the “WOD” (workout of the Day) button. We provide the warm-up, instruction, workout, and coaching. You provide the effort. If you are not ready for something we will give you a substitute movement designed to help you progress to the next level. Finally, consistency is the key. Keep showing up, keep pressing the button, and you will be amazed.
CrossFit training delivers a benefit that is applicable to everyone, general physical preparedness (GPP). The mixture of constantly varied functional movements that is the essence of CrossFit training develops the ability to produce power, increases range of motion in the shoulder and hips, strengthens the core musculature of the body, develops the metabolic engines you need to express these capacities for short (seconds), medium (minutes), and long (hours) intervals of time, and creates a physiological base for sport, life, and health.
Strong people are harder to kill than weak people and more useful in general.
